There was trivia, Disney bingo and a game of 'Pin Minnie’s Bow'. Clients enjoyed reminiscing about the Disney movies that were their favourites and how special it was going to the cinema back when they were first released. Along with enjoying a hearty morning tea, prepared by staff, the group also watched the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, 'Steamboat Willy'. Thank you to our team for organising this special event and to our clients for joining in on the Disney fun. Walt would be proud!"

Toowoomba Anglican School Facebook on 17 February 2023: "Our Activities and Facilities Coordinator, Rick (who is also the manager of the QLD Country Rugby Union Team – The Heelers) recently took the TAS bus to Narrabri for the Santos Festival of Rugby for the QLD Country vs NSW Country 'Battle of the Boarder' Cup to support the transport of players from Central and North QLD, Sunshine and Gold Coasts. Fr Bruce, of the Anglican Church Southern Queensland, acknowledged the First Nations Elders, gave thanks, and highlighted the shared history that has perpetuated cycles of disadvantage seen today in First Nations communities. We also heard from our Mission Manager, Colin, and Gunggari woman and Anglicare client, Aunty Ruth. Our Group Manager of Home and Community (Sue Montgomery), Home and Community Service Manager for Brisbane North (Carolyn Cumming) and our Cultural Capability Facilitator (Howie Vandyke) were also present to listen to our clients and learn how we can better support First Nations Elders. The anglican focus editor visited her favourite writer with a card, cupcake and the warmest regards from other St Martin’s House staff members. Margaret tells this marvellous story: 'During a final service at a Cursillo Southern Queensland weekend, we were invited to put something on the altar. I only had a biro on me, so I placed it on the altar. After that I received the gift of writing and began writing regularly for my parish newsletters from the 1980s until 2016...My writings are kept in several folders in my home.' Margaret generously lent her writings (pictured in the folders on her lap) to our Records and Archives Centre so our Archivist, Michael, could scan and save them. Happy birthday, Margaret."

Bishop Cam Venables, Anglicare SQ Executive Director Sue Cooke, Adele Wilkinson (Meilene Home Manager) and Bundaberg Mayor Jack Dempsey at the reopening of the Meilene Residential Aged Care Home in Bundaberg after a $19 million redevelopment. The project adds 36 beds, upgrades to all accommodation, community areas and grounds, and will create up to 144 new jobs for the region.

Congratulations to The Rev'd Dr Ruth Mathieson who celebrated 25 years of priestly ministry in February 2023. The St Francis College team surprised Ruth with flowers and a cake during their annual retreat to mark the joyous occasion. The Rev'd Dr Ruth and Bishop Jeremy were ordained to the priesthood on the same day in Adelaide in 1998.
