We celebrated our ‘Zoom’ church service in the front yard with The Rev'd Pauline Harley and our fellow congregation members ‘Zoomed in’, celebrating Jesus triumphant return to Jerusalem."
Churchie has commemorated Anzac Day with an annual service since 1919. Despite being unable to hold the service this year, the Churchie community found many creative ways to acknowledge this important national day. Most of Churchie’s cadets and students participated with their families in RSL Queensland’s Light up the Dawn, standing in their driveways at home at 6 am on Anzac Day. Churchie’s musicians also provided supported via the Music for Mateship initiative, playing 'The Last Post' and 'Reveille' on a bugle or trumpet in their communities. Where the community would usually gather on Anzac Day, Chairman of School Council Mr Daniel O’Connor OAM and Headmaster Dr Alan Campbell laid wreaths at the memorial on The Flat, which displays the names of 119 fallen Old Boys and staff, a constant reminder of Churchie’s legacy of service.

After the COVID-19 problem solving Help Desk was enthusiastically road tested on Zoom by Resource Collaboration Group members and their pets, Diocesan community members sought assistance over three Help Desk sessions in early April, with various people asking about worship engagement, technical issues, emergency food pantry distribution scenarios and more. The Rev'd Bronwyn Pagram (bottom left) sought advice from The Rev'd Jazz Dow, Jonathan Sargeant and Jen Basham.
On 27 April 2020, Doriann Holloway, St Laurence's Caboolture AMUA Branch President, sent a weekly 'Keeping-in-Touch' letter with something to encourage members in their personal time of prayer and Bible reading, something to think about to challenge members intellectually or philosophically, and a 'Catch-up Corner' with news of each other.

Every Wednesday, people across our Diocesan community join Archbishop Phillip Aspinall in Morning Prayer. On Wednesday 29 April the Archbishop introduced Morning Prayer with a brief reflection on "the life and ministry of Catherine of Siena." Join the Archbishop on Wednesdays by going to the St Francis College YouTube Channel.
Maundy Thursday, St Andrew's Springfield: "It was really good to engage with Maundy Service at home. As you can see, with Cian and Chris, we were able to participate in the service and wash each other's feet. We felt so blessed and our hearts are full of joy and love". CHAC is working hard to maintain and grow its strong College community spirit during these unprecedented circumstances. Each week, the College live streams assemblies for secondary students, and weekly primary Chapel services are also live streamed for students learning from home. In the lead up to World Labyrinth Day on 2 May, Churchie students created their own labyrinths at home during April, including Year 5 student Jacob, pictured here with the labyrinth he created using beach towels in his backyard.
Bishop Jeremy Greaves recorded an inspiring Good Friday 2020 message in early April: “As we come once again to the cross this Good Friday, we are called to remember that, like our ancestors, we also have choices to make at every intersection. We can be indifferent or engaged, apathetic or involved, overwhelmed or determined, fearful or hopeful."

A local neighbour of our Residential Aged Care Home, Symes Grove, volunteered his time and talents to perform the 'Last Post' on the bugle for our residents. It came at the perfect time, when our residents were disappointed at the thought of not celebrating Anzac Day in their traditional way. Our neighbour, Jamie, is a music teacher at the local high school. He’s passionate about playing brass instruments for his students and came up with the idea to give back to his community. Thank you, Jamie, for sharing your talents with our residents, and for helping us to celebrate those who have served and continue to serve – it means so much to us."
