On 4 May 2019, 11 of the St Bart’s, Toowoomba Social Cycling Group, completed a ride from Toowoomba to Mooloolaba (220km) with 100 other riders from around Queensland. It was a great opportunity to connect with others and share what the life of the local church is all about.

From the quiet stones of the Chapel to the polished timber framework in Old Bishopsbourne, St Francis College Campus was buzzing with 28 Spiritual Direction Formation Students, Supervisors, Presenters and some Past Graduates during the recent Intensive. They were nourished each day by teams of Parish volunteers who also enjoyed wandering around our captivating campus and historic buildings.
Graffiti artist Teazer spraying Anglicare SQ's Good Grub Club food van, as part of Anglicare’s Arts&Minds 2019 campaign. Arts&Minds brings together six young people who have experienced being homeless. Together they did the graffiti for this food van that will serve as a platform to help more youth on the streets.
Between Thursday 9 and Saturday 11 May, Canon Hill Anglican College students presented the musical 'We Will Rock You'. 'We Will Rock You' took place on an i-Planet where rock music and musical instruments were outlawed and kids spent their days engrossed online. The musical was a riotous romp through the songs of Queen, as Galileo and Scaramouche joined the rebel Bohemians and searched for the holy texts to set rock and roll free.

The All Saints', Chermisde community received a $10500 grant from Kedron-Wavell Services Club on 14 May through their Community Grants Project. The money will be used so that All Saints' can "reach further, feed more and in turn support the wider community as we serve those in need as Jesus did himself."
Churchie’s boarding students celebrated National Boarding Week by working together to produce a video about their boarding experience. Bishop Cam Venables visited Stanthorpe Anglican Parish on 19 May where he enjoyed a service and shared meal. Bishop Cam, who took this pic, said that he: "was struck by the significant ministry with migrant fruit pickers that has developed during The Rev'd Daniel Sitaram’s time at Stanthorpe. At the service there was a Samoan choir who sang extraordinarily and performed the Samoan version of the Haka. There was also a lovely team from Vanuatu who not only sang, but were an intrinsic part of the washing-up team."

The Rev'd Canon Bruce Boase and Archbishop Phillip Aspinall at St John's Cathedral, Brisbane on 28 May 2019 to mark National Reconciliation Week 2019, with this year's theme being 'Grounded in truth: walk together with courage'. This is what Canon Bruce said about this part of the ceremony: "The Archbishop and I were putting our handprints on two different pieces of fabric. One piece of white fabric the other black. The Archbishop imprinted his hand in white on the black and I imprinted my hand in black on the white. The Archbishop is the representative of the Anglican Church of Southern Qld. The whole Diocese. I do not have the right to speak for nor can I represent all of my brothers and sisters who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. What my hand print was for was to be a symbol of and for all of those. The hand prints are open. They represent, Truth, Peace, Faith, Hope and Love. Truth in the open honesty of the hands. Peace in that they bear no weapons or violence. Faith in that they are both open to the will of God. Hope in that this is not just my hope or vision but a hope for the whole Diocese (at least) and Love. We cannot have love without extending our open hands and heart. It is my hope that these pieces of cloth will be joined, sewn together and then taken around the Diocese by the Archbishop and the Regional Bishops as they visit their different parishes and other units of the Diocese. At each point, they ought to be asked to provide a fabric symbol of their commitment to Reconciliation. This symbol could be anything, but it needs to be sewn on in time as well. These pieces could also include the symbols of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities. Thank you for wanting to carry on the message. I do hope that this, my vision, can be taken up and lived with. I do hope that this can become a part of the fabric of the Diocese and be displayed at important events in the future even if only just to watch it grow. This could take years but that is the nature of our journey anyway. Blessings, Fr. Bruce."
