#SundayIsComing reflection: 13 April 2025
Luke 19.28-44
“Amid all the excitement of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, there is one person who was not rejoicing. The gospel tells us that while the crowd cheered, Jesus shed tears. In that moment is an uncomfortable tension between the celebration and the sadness…a tension we all know at different times in our lives,” says Archbishop Jeremy Greaves
“On this middle day, there is time and space to ponder and pray — space to consider the meaning of the cross,” says Bishop Sarah Plowman
“So even as we might reflect on the utter injustice and cruelty of Jesus’ crucifixion and how the world we live in still reflects that cruelty and injustice, we might just pause and think of what was won on that cross,” says Bishop John Roundhill
“Could I make a personal request for as many of you as are able to come to a Maundy Thursday service and join in remembering the sequence of events, without which Palm Sunday to Easter Day do not come together, and it is THE story on which our faith is based,” invites Bishop Daniel Abot
“Imagine, if you can, Jesus coming back to earth this year to live among us once again,” says Bishop Cam Venables
