God’s love

"It is a deep sadness that throughout the history of the Church, fear and distrust have become intolerance and hatred and again and again the Gospel of love – the pure celebration of the mystery of God – is distorted and weaponised and we turn God and the scriptures into our excuse for excluding and ostracising those whose difference unsettles or scares us" (Bishop Jeremy Greaves, Valedictory Service sermon, Chapel of the Holy Spirit, St Francis College, 24 October 2021)

“A blind obsession with love”: 2021 Valedictory Service sermon

“…a blind obsession with love requires us to build relationships not walls, requires trust not fear, requires that we make room for difference rather than cling to an arrogant assurance that my way is the only way,” says Bishop Jeremy Greaves

There is nothing new under the sun, and Mother God still loves us

“The fact that rechem can also mean ‘womb’ has always fascinated me when reading Psalm 25.6 in Hebrew. I connect the concept of this word to the idea of a mother’s love for those children of whom people sometimes say, ‘Only a mother could love them.’ I love the idea that God’s love is maternal. God loves me even when I am not lovable by any but Her,” says Dr Marie-Louise Craig from St Francis College

My God loves everyone

“Some people have recently asked me about an old photo taken at the Pride Week event, so I’d like to share the story behind it. It’s a great story about the opportunity to talk about Jesus with people who wouldn’t normally have a conversation with a Bishop,” says Bishop Jeremy Greaves
